1. A lot of people

“We’re expecting about a thousand people to come,” said senior Parth Bharwad, IASA President. Keep in mind we have approximately 2000 people for the typical Monta Vista rallies so you can expect quite a crowd for cultural excitement.

2. Food (who doesn’t like good food right?)

Of course, the classic indian snack: Samosas, an indian pastry, typically a savory, filled with a stuffing of some sort. Samosas will be served during the intermission of the show. The officers of IASA are working to make the distribution of the snack as efficient as possible.

3. Performances, as usual

The spotlight interest meeting for May 2014 was held on Nov 21 for groups interested in performing for the show. Performance groups are asked to finish at least one-third of their act by Feb. 15. “We only have space for 14 performances so we’re going to be doing a lot of cutting,” Bharwad said.

4. Entertaining emceeing

IASA Vice President junior Anirudh Srinivas and Bharwad will be leading the emcees along with a small group of people that will be chosen competitively. Tryouts for emceeing is planned for March 8th.

5. Important people

In addition to celebrating culture, this year the officer team of IASA is also bringing Congressmen Mike Honda and Ro Khanna, Anesthesiologist Vanila Singh, assembly member Paul Fong. The event will also be covered by TV Asia coverage.
