People from all around the Bay Area anxiously anticipate meeting some of their favorite stars. During the long wait, random screams of anticipation constantly permeated through out the line. Photo by Margaret Lin.

“The hug!” said senior Stephanie Tu.

“The hug! The hug! I hugged Cathy Nguyen!” senior Timothy Hwang excitedly said.

“I got a hug from Kevin [Wu]!” Tu said.

On Sept. 25, the International Secret Agent team, which includes popular stars such as Wong Fu Productions (Wesley Chan, Ted Fu and Philip Wang), Ryan Higa, Kevin Wu, Far East Movement, (Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman) and Cathy Nguyen all were present at a meet and greet event in the San Jose Westfield Verizon store. Before coming to the Bay Area,  ISA members had visited Seattle on July 31 for their ongoing 2011 tour.

The first 200 people at the meet-up received the official SF 2011 ISA team poster. Overall, approximately 500 attendees were able to take pictures with some of their favorite stars. Security guards patrolled the long line to make sure everything was under control.

Sophomores Jessica Li, Iris Lee and Jenny Yung drew pictures for the ISA team while waiting in line.

“When they accepted it and complimented it made us really happy” Li said.

All atendees who met the ISA team took a group photo with the ISA team. After the photo, everyone also received a card giving the URL of the website where they could find their photos later.

Many MVHS students who attended that day agree that many MVHS students are heavily influenced by all of the members of ISA. Since most of the members of the ISA team are of Asian descent, many of the situations they talk about in their videos are extremely relatable to students on campus.

“It’s mostly because they’re Asian too! It’s kind of like, ‘We’re all Asian too!‘” Tu said.

But other than their Asian roots, the ISA team’s content also draws the attention of a lot of students.

“I think that [the ISA team] has a really, really huge influence on MVHS because people in Cupertino use Youtube to waste their time and they’re Youtube stars,” junior Whitney Chung said,  “Well maybe it’s just me, I especially like to waste my time on Youtube.”

The night before the meet-up, ISA performed a concert at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. General tickets for this event were $30.

On the next stop on their 2011 tour, the ISA team plans to hold a festival in Los Angeles on October 1.

In the end,  reactions from students varied all across the board. Some wished that they could go again, others were satisfied that they got to meet the stars, even if it was only for a mere 10 seconds.
