Interact writes letters to Santa and Gunn

Interact writes letters to Santa and Gunn

Interact reins in the power of the written word to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation and support Gunn High School

Interact is going old-school to make a difference — with pen and paper.  On Dec. 10 and 11, supplies were available for students to write letters to Santa to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  The letters written to Santa will be given to the local Macy’s, which has pledged to donate $1 for every letter received to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which aims to grant the wishes of children battling life-threatening medical diseases.

The event is organized by Interact’s Project Connecting Communities (PCC) Global committee. During lunch, supplies were available in the Rally Court to write letters to Santa.

Interact also held an event on Dec. 4, where a poster was created to show support for students at Gunn High School in light of the student deaths in the past year.

The PCC Local committee organized the poster activity for members during the Dec. 4 lunch meeting.  Members wrote inspirational and heart-felt messages to the students and staff at Gunn to express their support for the Gunn student body.  The poster will be displayed in the Gunn Student Activity Center or quad for students to read.

"Having friends who go to Gunn and reading the newspaper, I saw the Gunn community and how together they were," Interact PCC Director junior Andrew Shiah said.  "I thought it would be good to reach out to them as high school students."
